Because of the ongoing government shutdown, SNAP (food stamps) — the program that millions rely on to feed their families is being slashed throughout November
We already know that families will get less than 50% of their usual funds, with some getting as little as $12 per months for their food assistance. About 8 percent of King County residents use SNAP to help pay for their groceries every month, and all of these people will only get part, if any at all, of the money they need for groceries in November
Food is a human right. Nobody, especially children, should go hungry. We have to show up for one another now.
Help us raise money to go towards food access services and non-profits in Seattle! See the list of all the organizations and program who will benefit here. We'll start with those near us on Capitol Hill, then give to ones in the rest of the city and more depending on turnout.
